Change Your Brain with Handwriting: The Art of Calligraphy and Cognitive Rewiring

Hello, My Beautiful Souls, and Happy National Handwriting Day!

I hope you are all enjoying the start of the new year, we have quite a powerful one upon us as February will bring us a new calendar year. The Year of the Dragon will commence from February 10, 2024, to January 28, 2025, this Chinese Zodiac is a period filled with significance and unique attributes. According to the Chinese lunar calendar, the Dragon is the fifth animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac and is seen as a symbol of power, strength, and good luck. But more on this in February, I just wanted you to get your dragon energy on and I am happy to share my mantra for this year which is to just:

“RIDE IT OUT!”

As an acupuncturist, I have always loved Asian philosophy, design, and culture.  The Dragon is the only mythical creature in the Chinese zodiac, often regarded as a symbol of ambition, success, and boldness. It is associated with qualities of dominance, ambition, and bravery. We also just had a powerful weekend of Pluto in Aquarius.  On a personal level, this transition may push individuals towards psychological evolution, helping them to break free from old patterns and embrace more progressive and liberating thought processes.

This past week has been a whirlwind of transformation for me, packed with intensive online business seminars. It was incredibly productive, but now it's crucial to address my mental health after being immersed in digital learning for five straight days, clocking in at 15 hours each day.

Extended exposure to WIFI and continuous screen time can have a significant impact on health. It's essential to discuss how we can care for our well-being in these digitally intensive times. So, here’s a quick tip about reducing screen time and its effects. Like many of us, I've been tethered to my screen, which is why taking deliberate breaks is vital for both our eyes and brain health. Let's explore effective ways to balance our screen time and maintain our mental wellness in the digital age.

Here’s a good WIFI tip:

I've found that taking breaks and chilling outside with my laptop is such a game-changer. It's not just refreshing but also a great way to shake up our routine. And guess what? Next time, I'm planning to switch things up a bit more by connecting my laptop to the TV.

This way, I can lounge back and enjoy a much bigger view from a comfy distance. It's not only gentler on our brains but also helps in reducing exposure to those pesky electromagnetic fields (EMFs). A win-win for our well-being and tech life balance!

Even better yet, I took a break from the seminar and went into my new Japanese Calligraphy class so I could take a break from ingesting new information. This allowed me to rewire my brain to reconnect new neural pathways, get my brain power boosted, and go on for the rest of the event to come.

It works!

There is something very powerful about using your own hands and changing your handwriting. I learned this in design school after we did architectural hand lettering. I saw major progress in my problem-solving and space planning as an interior designer, especially as I drafted it all by hand before AUTOCAD and computer-generated drafting.

I’ve always used ART Therapy and music to break my patterns of habits and rewire my brain for new neural connections. Plus, it just so happens that this week is National Handwriting Day, and I celebrated it fully at my new Japanese Calligraphy class!  I had this class planned since last month so I couldn’t believe it lined up with this special day. What a treat!
