NYC’s Pottery Barn's Eco-Friendly Charm: Unveiling Their Signature Style and Sustainable Commitment

Hello to all the Eco-Conscious enthusiasts out there!

After a delightful weekend exploring the NYC design district, I had the chance to pop into Pottery Barn and let me tell you, it was a huge store with some nice sustainable items to choose from. I discovered some fantastic holiday table decorations for the fall season and stumbled upon some cozy beds and tables that could truly elevate any home's ambiance.

Pottery Barn's story is one of a commitment to comfort, quality, style, and value. Founded back in 1948, it joined the Williams-Sonoma, Inc. family in 1986, broadening its offerings to include furniture, accessories, and expert decorating advice for every corner of your home.

So, what exactly defines Pottery Barn's style?

Here's a quick rundown:

  1. Embrace soft, cozy neutral colors and gentle, understated hues.

  2. Discover furniture featuring a charming, weathered, white-washed finish.

  3. Immerse yourself in a classic, timeless style, enriched with vintage elements that leave a lasting impression.

  4. Infuse a touch of contemporary elegance to maintain a fresh and current overall aesthetic.

But here's the deal, Pottery Barn is also a socially responsible company. They source wood that's FSC-certified, reclaimed, or recycled. Plus, they use safer finishes with green guard gold standards, as well as OEKO-TEX certifications to ensure your peace of mind. With a focus on lower VOCs and responsible cotton sourcing (aiming for 100%), they're making great strides in minimizing waste in their packaging and shipping materials.

Now, let's talk about my personal favorite: the Palisades Square Reclaimed Wood Coffee Table, the pet furniture throws and beds, and their upholstered round poofs!

This best-selling Palisades table is a work of art, crafted from reclaimed pine with a rustic charm that complements any style of the room. And the best part? Pine wood is a sustainable and eco-friendly choice for furniture because it's derived from fast-growing, renewable resources. These trees grow quickly and can be harvested and replanted with ease.

And when we talk about standards, Pottery Barn doesn't cut corners. They adhere to ANSI/BIFMA standards, which might have you wondering what those are. ANSI/BIFMA standards are a set of rigorous testing protocols for furniture, and Pottery Barn ensures their products meet these high benchmarks.

To top it all off, Pottery Barn is all about sustainability, ensuring that their products are made with the planet in mind. They even have UL Verification Services Inc, an accredited certification body for BIFMA LEVEL® certification, to give you peace of mind that their products are truly sustainable.

I loved the fall table décor full of neutral fall rustic colors, sunflowers, and some color pops to make it interesting. I like using natural elements and a warm color pallet for that cozy feel just in time for Thanksgiving.

Remember, you can always DIY and make your own table décor from fresh flowers, outdoor branches, and fabric from your closet. Let’s face it we all need to count our blessings this year by making the most of what is left of the end of 2023, and nourish ourselves by celebrating with loved ones and making home-cooked meals for the holidays.

So there you have it, the inside scoop on Pottery Barn's style, sustainability, and commitment to quality.

Happy shopping and make it a sustainable holiday.
