Paper Source to Spark Your Creativity

Hello Beautiful Souls!

I am always writing about business that live up to sustainable practices, outsource jobs and materials to local chapters and especially underdeveloped countries. In this next business spotlight, I talk about my creative addiction that is all things paper.

As I was walking down the street in Santa Monica, I stopped in my tracks when I passed by the most beautiful stationary store right in front of me, it was Paper Source! As a creative fanatic this can be a dangerous place, especially as I am traveling and wondering how in the world am I going to pack all these goodies in my luggage?

If you are like me and are a paper enthusiast, you already know my home art space is full of a lot of artistic products. Since I have been back to hand drafting and drawing my supply list has grown immensely and I feel like I need my own art room again. But alas, I am back in a condo so it’s all about extreme organization skills to fit all my art supplies in my space. I am simply obsessed with paper, any beautiful office supplies, and don’t even get me started with my box addiction. Yes, I am a true artist when it comes to supplies.

Hand drafting has always been my favorite part of interior design, but I had to switch to AutoCAD quickly as corporate America could care less about your artist. It was all about getting it done quickly and electronically, we had lost the hand artistry that came with this career. It was so easy to get caught up in the fast track and forget all about the skills it took to get there.

Well not me, I am all about bringing that artist back and have fed my sketching artist once again all summer long. I am starting to feel like myself again and that bright eyed girl right out of college who wanted to just make things healthy and beautiful has returned. I loved my college design process as it was all about visual artistly, and I used all my natural hand skills to create art. I even took photography and worked a dark room with a non-digital camera (yes this was many moons ago).

Have you heard of this store?

Paper Source is a retail company specializing in paper goods, stationery, greeting cards, craft supplies, and unique gifts. They are known for their wide range of products that cater to various creative and artistic endeavors. I always like to do some research about retail spaces so here's an overview of the company.

Paper Source was founded in 1983 by Sue Lindstrom in Chicago, Illinois. The company began as a small stationery store offering high-quality paper products and stationery items. Over the years, Paper Source expanded its offerings to include not only stationery but also DIY craft supplies, custom printing services, unique gifts, and various tools for creative projects.

They do have an eco-story!

Paper Source products put the environment first and focus on sustainability and social responsibility while commitment to premium paper quality. A lot of their products are sourced domestically, and their products are often created with post-consumer fiber, renewable energy sources or renewable plant-based materials. Plus, we all know paper is mostly recyclable, they also do have a recyclable line and have dedicated to less plastic.

Throughout my extensive travels I was constantly visiting and photographing botanical gardens and venues, as I visited all their gift shops, I would always see this bee logo on all these beautiful journals and stationery. It took me a bit to realize it was this Paper Source brand that I have always been purchasing. I just love the artwork and stationery so much that I had to understand the brand vision. So here it is:

“ Paper Source Brand Icon

The paper wasp chews tree bark and leaves to build their beautiful, delicate nests. Much like this creative creature, nature’s original paper maker, we believe paper can create extraordinary things.”

I’m addicted!

Paper Source's product range includes:

  1. Stationery and Paper Goods: Greeting cards, notebooks, journals, writing paper, envelopes, and personalized stationery.

  2. Craft Supplies: A wide variety of craft materials including paper, stamps, inks, stickers, washi tape, and other accessories for DIY projects.

  3. Custom Printing: They offer services such as custom invitations, announcements, and personalized gifts.

  4. Gifts: Unique and curated gift items including home décor, calendars, calendars, and more.

  5. Workshops: Paper Source often holds workshops and classes to teach various creative techniques such as paper crafting, calligraphy, and card-making.

  6. Wedding and Event Supplies: Paper Source is known for providing wedding-related products like invitations, save-the-dates, place cards, and more

  7. Online Presence: Paper Source has an online store that allows customers to browse and purchase their products.

This has now turned into and obsession as I have been art journaling and these supplies just seem to make it all better. If you haven’t read my article on art journaling, you can catch it HERE

This has been a valuable creating tool that can also be a resource for mental health and wellness.  Please feed your artist!

I hope you can find your artist and explore some of these products and ideas to feed your next project. Please support art stores, they are having a difficult time and we have already seen Pearls, Blicks, and some Michael’s stores dealing with the retail shutdown crisis. It’s not all about Amazon.

I guess the point I am trying to make, is to never lose sight of your artist, it is vital to mental health and wellness, and it just feels so darn good.

Enjoy creating!
